The line the listing does not put up front

The listing's own note: the tour does not go to the Mt. Fuji 5th Station. If the mountain road is the point of your day, this is the wrong tour and it says so. The road itself is the Fuji Subaru Line, a toll road with a road fee, and the Yamanashi tourism office publishes its seasonal opening and the summer private-car ban.

The suggested sequence opens at Chureito Pagoda in Arakurayama Sengen Park, an hour including the 398 steps, then forty minutes at the Kitaguchi Hongu Fuji Sengen Shrine down the cedar avenue, and forty-five at Oshino Hakkai's spring ponds. Lunch follows, forty-five minutes at a local restaurant with houtou as the default. The afternoon is Lake Kawaguchi from Oishi and Nagasaki parks, forty-five minutes on the north shore, then either the Fugaku Wind Cave, a lava tunnel, or the short forest walk to the Haha-no-Shirataki waterfall. Saiko Iyashi-no-Sato, the thatched village, is listed as optional and adaptive.

The 5th Station, and why it is missing

The listing states in its own words that the tour does not visit the Mt. Fuji 5th Station, to avoid heavy highway congestion. The Subaru Line up the mountain is a toll road with a 2,800-yen fee and queues that can take an hour of a six-hour day. If the 5th Station matters to you, fuji_outdoor_base's drive lists it as an optional stop, or take Fujikyu's seasonal public bus from Kawaguchiko Station.

Book it if you are four or more

The fare is per vehicle. At $481, a family of four pays $120 each, six friends pay $80 and a full car of seven pays $69, less than the per-person half-day from Forest Kraft. The reviews are unusually consistent: 51 of them at 5.0, guide, transport and value all scored 5.0, and 97% of English-speaking travellers gave a perfect score.

A July 2026 reviewer credited the mix of the main sights with places large groups cannot reach; an August reviewer noted the guide's patience with a child. The full break-even table sits in private against shared.

Skip it if you are one or two

Two people pay $240 each here. Forest Kraft's half-day is $71 each for four private hours, and their full day is $128 for all five lakes. If you want a licensed rather than a local guide, agencies such as Japan Guide Agency match government-licensed guide-interpreters to a standard Kawaguchiko route, with transport, admissions and meals paid by the guest.

Skip it if your hotel is in Tokyo or Hakone

Pickup is limited to Fujikawaguchiko, Fujiyoshida and Narusawa, including the Kawaguchiko, Mt. Fuji and Fuji-Q Highland stations. Take the highway bus to one of those stations in the morning and meet the guide there; the fares are on the homepage.
